Physical Education
Vision
At Moulsham Infant School we aim to ensure that all children enjoy their learning in P.E. We believe that when children find an enjoyment and appreciation for physical activity, this will encourage them to lead a healthy and active life. Through our Physical Education curriculum and provision at playtimes, we enable the children to become independent, resilient and ambitious learners, continuously striving to improve their performance. Through competitions, we encourage the children to work as part of a team, showing respect, empathy and fairness to both their team mates and the opposition.
Intent
At Moulsham Infant School it is our intent to enable all children to develop and explore fundamental movement skills with increasing control and co-ordination. We encourage children to work and play with others in a range of group situations and develop the way children perform their skills and apply rules and conventions for different activities. We demonstrate to our children how to improve the quality and control of their performance as well as teaching them to recognise and describe how their bodies feel during exercise. We develop our childrens’ enjoyment of physical activity through creative and imaginative activities. We embed an understanding in children of how to succeed in a range of physical activities and how to evaluate their own success. We strive to establish a high profile of physical education throughout our school and celebrate the sporting achievements of our pupils both in and out of school. We assess pupils learning and analyse and interpret the results to inform future planning and lessons.
